As Director of the Web Working Group (WWG) at the GSMA, Istvan Lajtos leads a number of international membership initiatives related to Internet encryption, Web Real Time Communication and Emerging Web technologies.
Istvan is responsible for activities around the mobile web ecosystem driven by the WWG, which monitors and acts on web technologies and business solutions that are important to mobile operators. In conjunction with web standardisation bodies, members of the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) and Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), the WWG supports and advises on the promotion, implementation and adoption of web technologies and related services.
Other focus areas include the opportunities offered by browser-based run time platforms and identity, developer products and services that prioritise operators in the value chain.
Before joining the GSMA, Istvan worked for Telefonica Group in the UK, leading on a number of large-scale delivery projects around device technology. He also managed Telefónica’s device technology strategy and held various roles within its Marketing division for nearly seven years.
Prior to this, Istvan spent ten years in product management, technical account management and marketing roles within the telecommunications industry, for companies including T-Mobile International, Vodafone Group and Ericsson.
